Comercial Río Hondo
Quarry · Aggregates · Construction
no online presence.
first website with product catalog and local search positioning
"Design and development of the first digital presence for a quarry in Santiago del Estero, connecting its real operation with the industry's natural communication channel."

The starting point of the challenge
Digging beneath the surface: What did I investigate?
We analyzed sites of quarries, building supply yards, and construction material providers in northern Argentina. Most had no website at all. The few that did used outdated generic templates with incomplete information. The industry is predominantly analog: inquiries, quotes, and delivery coordination are handled by phone or WhatsApp. We understood it made no sense to impose an e-commerce system, online quotes, or complex forms. The website shouldn't replace WhatsApp. It should feed it with better-informed clients.
"For a quarry, the website doesn't sell products. It sells trust. The client needs to verify that the company exists, has real operations, and handles volumes. A photo of heavy machinery at work is worth more than any technical description. Real images and videos of the quarry in active operation were the project's most valuable asset. Additionally, local SEO was critical: the company needed to appear when someone searched for "aggregates Santiago del Estero" or "construction stone Río Hondo.""
Understanding this pillar completely transformed the tactical direction of the project, allowing unnecessary noise to be filtered out and focusing on strict value.
Tradeoff Analysis: options on the table
Building custom software requires honestly evaluating scenarios. No architecture is perfect — every decision has a price:
Multi-page site with catalog and quote calculator
More functionally complete, but too complex for a business that resolves everything via WhatsApp. The online quote calculator wasn't going to be used.
Static landing page with WhatsApp
Respected the business's real flow, loaded fast, and covered the digital presence need without imposing new processes. The most sensible option.
E-commerce with cart and payments
Technically possible but completely misaligned with how the industry operates. No one buys aggregates by the kilo in an online cart.
The Decision: The path chosen
WHAT ACTUALLY WORKED
The WhatsApp integration was adopted immediately, with no training. The real photos and videos of the quarry, without using stock material, generated instant credibility. Local SEO worked and the company went from not existing digitally to appearing in relevant searches in its area. Clients arrive on WhatsApp with context about the product they saw on the website, streamlining quotes. The landing page loads in under a second even on rural mobile networks.
LIMITATIONS & TRADE-OFFS
Being a landing page without a CMS, any change to photos, products, or texts requires developer intervention. It was a deliberate decision to prioritize speed and simplicity, but it sacrifices client autonomy. The design is sober and functional, without elaborate animations or transitions, which is correct for the industry but less visually striking than other projects in the portfolio. There's no metrics panel or conversion tracking beyond what WhatsApp offers natively.
FROM GONZALO'S PERSONAL LOGBOOK: WHAT WOULD I DO DIFFERENTLY TODAY?
"I would add a completed works section with map geolocation so potential clients can see the proximity of supplied projects. And I would add a simple WhatsApp conversion metrics system to measure real ROI without invasive tracking."
